White wooden slat blinds - Web Blinds £60
I bought these for the bedroom from Web Blinds because our windows don't fall within the standard 60/90/120cm widths and it turned out to be a really good call. Web blinds is the sister company of Hillarys' Blinds but you do the measuring and fitting yourself (saving money of course) and I was really impressed by the choice. The blinds arrived really quickly, were easy to put up and for just £60 for 110x170cm blinds they were a bit of a bargain.  Would definitely recommend - they do roman blinds and shutter too...

Coving Nayak room kit - B&Q £29.48
We bought a couple of these to do the bedroom and living room, and had enough left over (minus Chris' comical corner cuttings) to do the downstairs loo. Lessons learned - use No Nails. Never bother with any nonesense special adhesives. Just don't. This kit comes with 'ready made corners' but all that means is they're pre-cut into the angles, but you'd need to get an angle cutting board anyway to do the rest. A good purchase if you've never done it before and don't know where to start.

Chimney Balloon - The Chimney Balloon Company, from 19.99
The purpose of this product is to alleviate draughts in open fireplaces. Whilst ours aren't open at the moment, the cat does like to take a vertical excursion every once in a while so I was hoping these would prevent him going too far.  It didn't work for us because I didn't know what size to order, so make sure you measure up your chimney at the point it narrows, and don't forget to add on your inflation hose as not all retailers include this as standard.
