Woven Hamper - Ikea £60
At 72x50x50cm it's compact enough to snug into a corner, but I've also seen this hamper used as a casual coffee table.  Is now proudly housing my beloved spotlight lamp.  It comes flat and you pop it up and slot the bottom in to keep it upright. With carry handles at the sides and a buckle clasp, it looks more expensive than it is.

Rug - Urban Outfitters £65
A really snazzy piece of textile design, this rug is a bargain for the size: 152x213cm. Because it's woven cotton as opposed to wool it's quite light and so would move around a lot when you walk on it unless you get a rug grip (from £2.75 from Ikea). But if like us you're just using it to sit your furniture on, it'll do the job quite nicely. The design features a white and yellow chevron pattern which marries together the decor of our dining room a treat. Arrived really fast too, I ordered it on a Saturday and it was sitting with my next door neighbours when I got home from work on Tuesday.  Don't forget to pick up a pack of the 'Blah Blah Blah' post-it notes while you're on the website too.

London Map Papercut Print - Famille Summerbelle £45
This print has already struck up many conversations with friends and neighbours who spot it on our dining room wall.  It looks just like a Rob Ryan, which is why I love it. But they have their own style and niche market which credits their designs in their own right. The London map comes in a variety of colours and they also have Paris, New York and San Fransisco

 ----------------------------------------------------------------

Movie Map Print - Dorothy £25
This map features a landscape built entirely on film names - the streets, the landmarks, the schools, the parks, the lakes, the airport - all derived from films! Another conversation starter, just make sure you hang it somewhere that friends can stand with their noses pressed up against it for long periods of time.
They also do Song Name Maps, a Periodic Table of Social Issues and Nameless Logo artwork - clear some space on your walls: http://www.wearedorothy.com/artwork

Manhattan Lamp - Next £75
I adore this lamp soooo much. I'd been dying to get an industrial style, old cinematic themed lamp for the living room but all the ones I'd been eyeing cost upward of £200.  This one from Next is a bargain, but has lovely features that make it appear far more expensive than it is - like the metal clips holding the frosted glass shade in place. It's not the brightest (even if you meet the max bulb wattage) but that's just an excuse to buy more lamps.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Stag Head - Cox and Cox £25
This will become my pride and joy in the dining room.  The MDF slices were a faff to slot together but the end result is worth it.  It has a hole for hanging on a hook and can be painted any colour. I'm going for can't-go-wrong matt white to work with our grey and white walls.

Clock - Outside in Designs via Achica £30
This was my first purchase for our new house, I'd always wanted a railway style clock after seeing one at my aunt's house. It has a thermometer on one side and beautiful details. Just have your small flathead screwdriver at the ready for putting the batteries in.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Bathroom Mirror - Next £16
A really nice little mirror in french grey for the downstairs loo. Enough said.

Goes well with...

Bathroom light - Ikea £12
A snazzy light for the downstairs loo, you can turn it to illuminate upwards or downwards before fixing to the wall. Easy peasy.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Crates - Crates4You via Achica from £16
I love Achica for the bargains, but the Crates 4 You website has a fantastic library of what other customers have done with their crates, and we have been very unimaginative by comparison. They look super chic on our living room walls, featuring some of our favourite books, blurays and nicknacks (illuminated with aforementioned Manhattan lamp).

Birdcage lightshade - Pacific Lifestyle via Achica £20
I'd seen this on Achica months earlier and really regretted not buying it. So when it appeared again I nabbed it. The birdcage frame is painted metal, softened by the fabric inner shade. There's also a matching table lamp. Bootiful.

Lamp - Ikea £37
Yes it's another lighting product.  This nickel finished lamp matches my Manhattan uplighter perfectly and the vintage design is just adorable.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Picture Ledges - Ikea £8.25
These are great for displaying some of Chris' comic book collection in the spare room with these A4 box frames also from Ikea (£4). No need to drill lots of individual holes into the walls and you can change things around no problem. I think they look smart and you can use them for other nicknacks. I've seen them used in kitchens for cookbooks.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------

Vase - Ikea £10
Set of two vases - I use the slimmer one for kitchen utensils, and the bigger one for fresh flowers from Chesham's Waitrose (they flog all the poor homeless blooms on fridays for half price, so I can't resist).
